In current times, most people, especially in the US, are complaining about something called “superhero fatigue”. This phenomenon basically means that most people are bored and dissatisfied with the superhero genre and are not wanting to see movies or TV series that show such characters.
This happened especially after several failures from both Marvel and DC movies in the past few years. But is this phenomenon really true?
This is because in the past two years Marvel has actually been able to make some really successful movies such as “Spiderman: No Way Home” and “Deadpool and Wolverine”. These two were successful mainly because they not only showed the classic good versus evil theme but also focused on the multiverse concept which is rooted in real world science.
In fact, the upcoming phase 6 will focus heavily on this concept and will not show hypocritical social justice themes that many people complained about regarding some movies. So let’s see how this phase will prove that superhero fatigue does not exist by changing the MCU entirely.
What You Can Expect From Phase 6
As per the most reliable sources, phase 6 will show many characters from pre MCU movies such as Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and the Fox X-men characters to return as a part of the MCU. The phase will have three movies such as “Avengers Doomsday”, “Spiderman 4” and “Avengers:Secret Wars” as main attractions.
It has been reported that the three movies, especially the last one will somehow reboot the entire marvel cinematic universe. This means that all characters will undergo new castings except for maybe Spider-Man. These movies will also show the pre MCU movie characters interacting with the ones we saw in the MCU movies.
This makes the phase very exciting and also holds doors open for new opportunities especially for the audience who loves such fantasy action movies. The return of Robert Downey Jr. as Dr. Doom which is a villainous character that often clashed in the comics against Iron Man (another character played by Mr. Robert) is also something that will peak the interests of the audience.
One Final Thought
It is confirmed by the head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Fiege that phase 6 will ultimately help Marvel movies show all of its characters within the same universe. This is something that was only wishful thinking even some years ago. The complaints of marvel movies showing female characters in light for wrong reasons and insulting male characters will ultimately be addressed and resolved here.
I personally feel that this phase will help to make Marvel transform the sci-fi and fantasy genres greatly. It will help to change the marvel cinematic universe entirely with totally fresh castings and will finally help to make superhero movies mature again and not be just for kids. This might happen since after this phase, Marvel will finally be able to explore mature storylines from the comics by using multiple characters that previously belonged to other studios.
