Marvel Entertainment has been running successfully for more than a decade. This entertainment house along with Disney has been able to offer many movies and web series which have entertained audiences not just from the USA but also from almost every major country in the world.
In fact, this entertainment house has been a game changer when it comes to superhero, fantasy, action, drama, comedy, and science fiction genres. However, quite lately very few Marvel movies have been able to impress the audience. The only ones that were able to impress people were movies like “Deadpool and Wolverine” and “Spiderman No Way Home” both of which brought back actors and characters who featured in movies before Marvel Studios had even started its journeys.
This shows that Marvel desperately needs characters that previously could appear in movies produced by entirely different studios in their movies and shows. The company was able to do this after Disney bought Twentieth Century Fox Entertainment which had the rights to characters like Fantastic Four and the X men.
In fact, Marvel now needs to make the experiences of people watching superhero movies during the late 90s, 2000s, and 2010s even better in order to be successful. This is where characters like Wolverine and the X men become important. There have been some shocking updates regarding the casting of the most famous X-man Wolverine currently. So if you are a Marvel fan, let us check it out.
Marvel Teased Major Updates About Wolverine Casting Within Its Movie Verse
The third What If Season has been disappointing. However, the MCU, for the first time showed the X-man Storm in the last two What If episodes which proved to be a very good move. This was mainly because the majority of the audience was tired of seeing not only weak scripts but also characters who were never very interesting. In fact, showing the female X-man was a major way for Marvel to show to its audience that not all hope is lost.
However, most people are still waiting to see who will be cast as the MCU Wolverine instead of Hugh Jackman. Many people want Mr. Jackman to keep acting in this role even in the MCU. And he did this to an extent in “Deadpool and Wolverine” as well. Despite this, many people still want to see what another person in this role would look like.
This anticipation had started ever since the audience got to see Henry Cavill in this role in “Deadpool and Wolverine” as Wolverine. His performance was considered unique and more comic-accurate by most people. So the average audience wants the former Superman to continue doing this role as he might suit it better. But Marvel has other plans which might be way more fruitful.
The MCU has already confirmed that Wolverine and mutants exist in the main MCU world through a tease in the failed “She Hulk” web series. However, there might not be one but several characters with the Wolverine mantle in the MCU. First of all, Marvel is looking for shorter actors like Taron Egerton in order to play this role in a more comic-accurate way. However, nothing about his casting has been confirmed. Secondly, Marvel might consider recasting Henry Cavill again if the audience demands it. Thirdly, the MCU wants to take a fresh take on this character by casting Dafne Keen as Wolverine’s daughter X-23 aka Laura. However, another casting will surely blow your head up.
And it is the fact that the MCU wants to show a version of Thanos from a parallel marvel universe who somehow gained the powers and abilities of Wolverine. I mean this, the idea itself is not only unique but something that can show Marvel comic book characters as superpowered individuals fighting many people using raw power and blood and gore like how we used to see in movies earlier. Since Josh Brolin played the role of Thanos in the MCU, it is quite possible that he will play or at least voice this version of Wolverine in an animated MCU show.
One Final Thought
The facts given above might make you realize that there are not only one but many Wolverine versions in the MCU. This also shows that Marvel is open to experimenting with unique ideas and fresh takes that will again prove to be a crowd-puller in cinema halls. For that, Marvel simply needs to acknowledge the demands of its audience, especially millennials and the older Gen Z who have grown up watching superhit and action-packed superhero movies made by other studios.
As of now, no casting choice for this character has been confirmed by Marvel Studios or Disney. However, it can be quite possible for both to keep the casting a secret in order to give a major reveal to the audience. So let us just see what Marvel has to offer in Phase 6 where variants of many famous characters including Wolverine will meet each other in movies.
