Today, during Pokémon Presents presentation, a new Mega Evolution is revealed for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, with Mega Dragonite’s future appearance. A big feature in the upcoming game is the mechanic of Mega Evolutions. This originally appeared in both Pokémon X and Y, but was not featured much since then. In this article, we will dive into the latest updates, including a look at Mega Dragonite.
July 2025 Pokémon Presents Stream Lasted 25 Minutes
The July stream lasted 25 minutes, but there is a lot of information to gain from it. This is mainly regarding the latest entry in the franchise Pokémon Legends: Z-A, releasing on October 16 for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. If you missed this event, you can check the latest highlights, including the announcements made at Pokémon Presents July 2025.
New Look at Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Including a New Mega Evolution
There is a new trailer for Pokémon Legends: Z-A ahead of its October release. The main thing in this is that the trailer showcased a newly announced Mega Dragonite for the first time. This marks the latest entry to the line of Mega Evolutions.
More Information on Pokémon Champions Is Released
Battles are a big part of the Pokémon brand, and in this new game coming out in 2026, you may test your battling skills in Pokémon Champions.
Announcements for New Animated Shows
The first thing announced was Aardman’s upcoming stop-motion cartoon series Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu. The teaser trailer for the show, which comes out in 2027, doesn’t reveal much, but the animation is very cute. Besides that, Pokémon fans also got a glimpse at new episodes of Pokémon Concierge on Netflix, set to release on September 4.
Pokémon Friends Adds Puzzle Activity to the Pokémon Franchise
Who doesn’t like puzzles? The stream’s announcement of Pokémon Friends was interesting because it’s a daily puzzle game with everyone’s favorite pocket monsters. The game is now available for all you puzzle lovers.
The Official Game Website Frames Mega Dragonite As a Compassionate Critter
Game Freak tries to make Mega Dragonite look like a loving creature who loves kindness on the official game website. It can tell when someone is in danger and has to save them from it.
Then things change. What do you mean when you say that Mega Dragonite thinks “ending a Pokémon match quickly is an act of kindness toward its opponent”? And why does Game Freak say that Mega Dragonite is constantly happy, even while it is attacking?
I don’t know about you, but this may seem a little scary. Mega Evolution itself may be the elephant in the room, and long-time fans of the franchise know that it’s not just a cool idea that makes a core Pokémon game more interesting.
It is Possible That You Are Not Dealing with the Same Universe as Depicted in Pokémon X and Y
This universe might differ from the one in Pokémon X and Y. In this world, Mega Evolution could serve as an effective combat method, and creatures that undergo it might remain unaffected. If monsters use it in the wild, they may choose to do so voluntarily.
Mega Dragonite is a Newly Discovered Mega-Evolved Pokémon
In a press release, the developers describe Mega Dragonite as a newly discovered Mega-Evolved Pokémon with unique Dragonair-like features, including wings on its head and a pearl on its tail. They also state that Mega Dragonite can now fly faster and farther than ever before
The design is surprisingly odd due to the pearl-like details and head wings from Dragonair. It may be that one’s ‘love it or hate it kind of thing.’ It appears like there’s no middle ground when it comes to comments on the new look. Some people say it’s the cutest thing they’ve ever seen, while others say it’s an absolute atrocity.
The Latest Pokémon Game is Set in Lumiose City
The latest game takes place in Lumiose City, a part of the Kalos region from Generation Six. It will have wild Pokémon that have started to mega-evolve on their own and are now bad. Players and Team MZ will have to work together to take them down.
Team MZ are the protectors of Lumoise city, and it also includes fashion designer Naveen and professional dancer Lida. Besides that, other characters in the game include detective Emma and Pokémon Research Lab director Mable.
Player Activity During Day and Night Times
During the day, players will explore the city, catch new Pokémon to add to their party, customize their personalities and Pokémon, and help the people of the city with side tasks. At night, they’ll compete in the Z-A Royale against strong trainers to move up the ranks.
It looks like all of the video in the new teaser was from the Switch 2 version of the game, although it still looks quite rudimentary. Players should expect better graphics and frame rates on the next system.
