He shared the video on the social media pages of the band and made his fans know that he was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer after a recent hospital visit. Brad’s Message to his Fans
Arnold said the following to his fans ‘I’ve got not so good news for you today’ ‘So, I’d been sick a couple of weeks ago and then went to the hospital and got checked out and had actually got the diagnosis that I had clear cell renal carcinoma that I had metastasized into my lung. And it’s stage 4, and that’s not really good.’
What is Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma?
As per the Cleveland clinic, this is a common form of kidney cancer. This problem occurs when cells lining the small tubes that filter body waste multiply rapidly, after which a tumour or more is formed. When viewed through a microscope, the cancer cells appear like clear bubbles.
Though there is no known cause for the cancer, there are factors such as high blood pressure, obesity, chronic kidney disease and tobacco use can increase risk. There are many treatments available for this disease such as immunotherapy, surgery, targeted therapy, and injection-based therapies.
Change of Plans Due to the Serious Health Issue
The lead vocalist Brad Arnold also said that his health issue has forced the band 3 Doors Down to cancel its upcoming Summer of ‘99 tour. Though he suffered this severe diagnosis, Brad has remained optimistic on his recovery owing to his religious faith. He added the following ‘ You know what? We serve a mighty God, and he can overcome anything. So I have no fear. I am really, sincerely not scared of it at all.’
He also added the following ‘i’d love for you to lift me in prayer every chance you get. And I think it’s time for me to maybe go listen to “It’s Not My Time” a little bit. Thank you guys, so much. God loves you. We love you. See ya.’
